When is the first day of School?

Kindergarten students are grouped alphabetically to attend the first week of school. Each group will attend one day in order for them to have an opportunity to explore the Kindy environment in a smaller group with all staff available.

Group 1 will attend Monday, 2 February 2026 (Surname A-E)

Group 2 will attend Tuesday, 3 February 2026 (Surname F-M)

Group 3 will attend Wednesday, 4 February 2026 Surname N-Z)

All students are welcome to attend Thursday and Friday to begin their pattern of regular attendance.

When will I be advised of my choice of days?

Parents have the option to send their child to Kindergarten 3, 4, or 5 days a week. If you have already decided on your days, you can advise the school by sending an email to studentadmin@jsracs.wa.edu.au. Ensure you put Kindy 2026 in the subject line. You are also welcome to wait until your child’s first day to advise the staff.

What do we pack for recess and lunch?

Please send your child to school with morning tea and lunch from home. Packing them in separate containers helps children to understand what they should eat at each break time until they are better able to manage their food for the day.

Drink bottles should contain water, some parents choose to provide a frozen fruit juice box drink, or equivalent, to help keep lunches cool during the day (cordial, or other high sugar drinks are not appropriate). Alternatively, you can include a frozen icepack or water bottle to help keep their lunches cool during summer.

Some students prefer a warm lunch in the cooler months and will bring small thermos containers. Please refrain from including lollies, chocolate, or unhealthy high sugar foods or drinks. Fast Foods (McDonalds, Red Rooster, Hungry Jacks, etc) should not be dropped off. These foods are inappropriate for a school day.

JSR is an allergy aware school, and families are asked to support us by not packing nut products in their child’s lunchbox. The Canteen is available for Kindergarten students to order their lunch. Lunch orders need to be placed in the box in your child’s classroom at the beginning of the school day if you are not ordering online via FlexiSchools. Getting online is easy, and only takes a few minutes to register. Simply go to www.flexischools.com.au and click Register Now.
