Why JSR?

Why Families Choose JSR
Choosing the right school is one of the most important decisions you will make for your child. At John Septimus Roe Anglican Community School, we understand you are looking for more than strong academic outcomes, you want a place where your child is known, supported and inspired to become their best self.
From our Early Learning Centre through to Year 12, we provide a nurturing, values‑based education that supports every aspect of your child’s growth, academically, socially, emotionally, spiritually and creatively.
The five reasons outlined below reflect what our community values most. They have been shaped by insights from our recent community survey, along with feedback from our students, families and staff, and conversations with prospective families exploring JSR.
A Broad High Quality Education
Every child is unique, and their education should reflect that. JSR offers a comprehensive learning program that caters to a wide range of abilities, interests and aspirations.
Our students are challenged through engaging and innovative learning experiences that develop critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and problem-solving skills. Alongside strong academic foundations, we encourage students to explore their interests through specialist programs, leadership opportunities, sport, the arts and service learning.
By focusing on the whole child, we help students discover their strengths, develop confidence and build the skills they need to thrive in a rapidly changing world

Strong Values and a Supportive Anglican Ethos
At the heart of our School is a commitment to the Anglican values of Faith, Inclusion, Respect and Excellence. These values shape our culture, guide our relationships and underpin the way we approach teaching and learning.
We welcome families from all backgrounds and beliefs, fostering a community where every individual is respected, valued and encouraged to contribute. Through our faith-based approach, students develop a strong sense of purpose, compassion and integrity while learning the importance of service, empathy and responsibility.
For many families, this sense of belonging and shared values is what makes JSR feel like home.
Pathways for Every Student
Success looks different for every child. That's why JSR offers a range of pathways designed to help students to achieve their personal goals and aspirations.
In the Senior School, students can choose from ATAR courses, vocational education and training (VET), Trade Pathways, Hospitality Programs and other future-focused learning opportunities. Whether a student is pursuing university studies, entering the workforce or undertaking further training, they are supported by experienced staff who help them make informed decisions about their future.
Our commitment is simple: to ensure every student graduates with the knowledge, skills and confidence to take their next step

Exceptional Care and Individual Support
Student wellbeing is fundamental to learning and achievement. At JSR, pastoral care is woven into every aspect of school life, ensuring students feel supported, connected and cared for throughout their educational journey.
Our dedicated pastoral and academic teams work closely together to monitor student progress, celebrate successes and provide support when challenges arise. By understanding each student's individual needs, strengths and aspirations, we can provide timely guidance and personalised support.
Families value knowing their child is known as an individual and supported by staff who genuinely care about their wellbeing and growth.
A Vibrant Community with Endless Opportunities
Learning extends far beyond the classroom at JSR. Students are encouraged to discover new interests, pursue their passions and develop lifelong skills through a wide range of co-curricular opportunities.
From sport, music, dance, drama and visual arts to languages, clubs, outdoor education, leadership programs and service learning initiatives, there is something for every student to explore. These experiences help students build confidence, resilience and friendships while developing a deeper connection to their school and community.
Our strong sense of community also creates meaningful partnerships between students, staff and families, fostering a supportive environment where everyone can belong and thrive.
