Year 10: My Year to Explore
Year 10 at JSR is a key transition year where students clarify their strengths, interests and goals. With expert academic guidance and strong pastoral support, students build confidence, character and wellbeing while exploring pathways that set them up for success in Senior School and beyond.
Year 10 Course Handbook
The Year 10 Course Handbook outlines subject options as students begin their Senior School journey. All students complete a core program including English, Mathematics, Science, HASS, Physical Education, Health Education and Religious Studies, and select three Specialist Courses to explore interests and support future pathways.
Year 11 and 12: My Years to Commit and Thrive

Pathways to Success
JSR offers six pathways designed to support a wide range of academic, vocational and career goals:
ATAR Pathway
The ATAR Pathway is designed for students whose goal is to achieve direct entry to university. It is an academically rigorous pathway where students will choose at least 4 ATAR Courses, although we recommend 5. Students can also choose a General Subject to complete the required 6 subjects. Choosing a General Subject is a great way to balance your academics studies with an area of interest or passion.
Flexible Pathway
The General Pathway is a balanced program that supports further training, employment and alternative post‑school options. Students can choose up to 3 ATAR Courses and a mix of General Subjects to make a total of 6 courses. In addition, students can select either Certificate Course delivered at JSR or join our Hospitality School Based Training Program as one of the 6 courses
Uni Ready
Eligible Year 12 students can undertake the Curtin UniReady program at the School, developing independent learning and study skills in a supportive environment. The program is completed across two units per semester. On completion, students receive a notional ATAR of 70, supporting entry into a range of Curtin and other university courses.
CareerLink
CareerLink is a school-industry partnership that provides students with nationally accredited Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses and workplace learning opportunities, helping them gain practical skills, industry experience and pathways to further study, apprenticeships, traineeships and employment.
Hospitality School Based Traineeship
JSR is an endorsed training centre for Certificate II and III in Hospitality. Train with our Chef and learn the fundamentals of the Hospitality Industry while at school. Students studying this pathway will study a total of 6 subjects, 1 of which must be the School Based Traineeship Certificate II and/or III in Hospitality, with up to 3 ATAR subjects and/or General subjects to make a total of 6 courses.
Trade Prep Pathway
The JSR Trade Preparation pathway is ideal for students who prefer hands-on learning and are keen to build a career in industry. With a mix of workplace learning, trade-focused subjects and a Certificate course, students develop practical skills and real-world experience, creating strong pathways to apprenticeships, employment, TAFE, or further study.
