More than just Physical Education

Sport at JSR is a vital part of a balanced education, building fitness, confidence and teamwork. Sport is a compulsory subject for all students from Kindy to Year 12.

With excellent facilities and a wide range of opportunities, students of all abilities are encouraged to participate, challenge themselves and grow. Through interhouse and interschool competitions, they develop resilience, leadership and a lifelong love of healthy, active living.

“Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity”.

House Pride

JSR’s interhouse school sport program fosters strong House pride and a sense of belonging. From Junior Primary Sports Afternoons to Primary and Secondary carnivals in swimming, athletics and cross country, students are encouraged to participate, support one another and celebrate achievement.

Friendly competitions, including teacher vs student games, further build community, teamwork and school spirit.

Primary Sport

The JSR Primary Physical Education program builds fundamental movement skills from the early years, creating a strong foundation for lifelong participation in sport and physical activity. Students are encouraged to engage confidently in a supportive, inclusive environment, developing skills across a range of sports and enjoying opportunities to participate in interschool competitions.

Secondary Sport

JSR offers a wide range of interschool sporting opportunities, including weekly NEAS fixtures and ACC competitions. Students represent the School across sports such as basketball, netball, soccer and more, building teamwork, resilience and leadership while developing skills and pride in representing JSR.

Inclusive Sport

JSR is proud to participate in ACC sport, offering inclusive opportunities for students of all abilities to engage in sporting competitions.

Through these programs, students from Years 7–12 are supported to participate, develop skills and experience the benefits of teamwork, connection and active involvement, with inclusive pathways that ensure every student feels valued and empowered to take part.

Interschool Sport

JSR is a member of the Junior ACC (Associated and Catholic Colleges of WA), ACC and NEAS (North Eastern Associated Schools) interschool sport competition. Students are selected on merit at the start of each season from interhouse carnival results or via trials.
