Orientation Day
Your child is requested to attend our Orientation Day at the School on Tuesday 1 December 2026 at 8.40am (arrival from 8.30am), with the day concluding at 3.30pm.
The day is an important aspect of the School’s Transition Program. It allows students to connect with the JSR community, meeting staff and peers and touring the School grounds and facilities. A variety of interactive sessions will be held to build excitement and to ease the nerves that may be occurring when transitioning to a new school environment.
Please refer to the below documents for information relating to drop-off and pick- up details and meeting places. Students are required to assemble in the Gymnasium by 8.40am. Staff and student leaders will be on hand around the campus to guide and assist students; however, we have included a map below that indicates where to drop-off and pick-up your child and where they are to meet.
Students are required the bring/wear the following to Orientation Day:
- Hat
- Wear Sunscreen (tubs available at school to reapply)
- PACKED recess and lunch
- Water bottle
- Pencil case with usual items – scissors, glue, colours, pen, pencil, eraser
- Current Year 6 JSR students must wear their normal sports uniform with their House polo shirts.
- Students from external schools should dress in their normal school sports uniform.

Headstart Day
Friday 29 January 2027
Year 7 students commence School a day earlier than other cohorts. Arriving at 8.30am and finishing at 3.20pm. This ‘Headstart’ provides time for our Year 7 students to familiarise themselves with their locker, organise their items, receive their devices and learn about IT expectations.
We will create space for new connections to form with both staff and peers, without the hustle and bustle of other year groups returning to school. We believe this is a valuable opportunity for the Year 7 students to settle into their new environment and should aid in a smooth transition process to secondary school and JSR.
Parents are invited to park on the Terry Hann Oval and walk with their child to Learning Street. Students should bring all items from their booklist. From here, parents have the option of meeting with our Marketing and Community Engagement team for a parent morning tea and campus tour, which concludes at 10.30 am.
Specifically organised School run buses will not be available on this day, students will need to be dropped off and picked up from campus.
Year 7 Camp
As part of the School’s Transition program, Year 7 students attend a 3 day camp during Term 3. The camp includes beach team building, supervised water-based activities, service learning and adventure experiences. In addition to these activities, students will engage with Year 9 Student Leaders, teachers and support staff who will coordinate sessions themed around welcoming our Year 7 students into the Middle School community.
The Camp has been designed to enhance opportunities for students to engage with one another in a less formal setting, to build strong and positive relationships within the year group. This is a significant aspect of our Transition program and an important rite of passage for students commencing their Middle School journey. We focus on this being a time of great change for each child, and we emphasise high levels of support to ensure a smooth transition process.
A Consent2Go email about camp will be sent in early February, please ensure this is completed as soon as possible once received.

Camp A: Monday 16 - Wednesday 18 August
Camp B: Wednesday 18 - Friday 20 August
Year 7 Parent Information
As part of our Transitional process parents are invited to attend key information sessions.
All Dates for 2027 TBC
Session 1: 2027 Year 7 Parent Middle School overview session.
Time: Monday, 23 November 2026 at 6:00pm
Purpose: This session provides an opportunity for parents to hear from Middle School Leaders and gain an insight into the learning experience and pastoral care at JSR.
Session 2: 2027 Year 7 Headstart Day, Optional Morning Tea and Tour
Time: Friday 29 January at 8:30am – 10:30am
Purpose: Help your child bring their items to their locker and feel settled. Meet other parents and tour the School.
Session 3: 2027 Year 7 Parent Sundowner
Time: Wednesday 10 February 2027 at 6.00pm
Location: Middle School Learning Street and Carnley Court
Purpose: This evening is designed to allow parents to connect in a meaningful way with their child’s Pastoral Care Group (PCG) Tutor, connect with other parents and experience the JSR hospitality, community spirit and welcoming nature.
