Year 7 Academic Scholarships

The JSR Academic Scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate academic excellence or ability, a commitment to learning, and support for the School’s values.

JSR welcomes applications from students who are Australian citizens or permanent residents residing in Western Australia entering Year 7. Students currently enrolled at JSR, students who have enrolled to commence at JSR in the intake year, and prospective students are invited to apply.

Students applying for an Academic Scholarship will be required to sit a selection of Academic Scholarship testing papers. All applicants will be required to pay a $40 fee to sit the test.

Please note: The results of the testing will be only one factor of consideration when awarding Academic Scholarships.

How to Apply

Students interested in applying for the Academic Scholarship must complete and submit the online application form before the stipulated closing date.

No late applications will be considered, nor will incomplete applications. This includes the submission of all documentation, including:

  • Two most recent reports
  • Most recent NAPLAN results
  • A reference provided by your class teacher

Students are also required to sit the scholarship exam to be held at JSR on the first Saturday of the Term 1 holidays.

What additional documents are required?

Academic Scholarships require a personal reference from your current school and payment of the Scholarship Testing Fee.

Community Scholarships require a personal reference and copies of two of the families most recent Taxation Assessments.

Can students apply for multiple scholarships?

Yes, we encourage you to apply for any scholarships that you meet the criteria for to maximise your chances of success.

What if I can't attend the testing?

Unfortunately, we have one testing date available for all applicants. If you are unable to attend the set testing date, then your Scholarship application will be considered incomplete and will not be reviewed.

How are recipients selected?

Recipients are chosen based on academic achievements, and their alignment with the school’s values, ensuring we select those who will thrive in our school community.

Are scholarships open to current students?

Academic and Basketball Scholarships are available to both current Year 6 JSR students, Year 6 students who have already commenced the enrolment journey for Year 7 and external applicants.
